“When grapes turn to wine, they long for our ability to change. When stars wheel around the North Pole, they are longing for our growing consciousness. Wine got drunk with us, not the other way.”-Rumi
I have fallen in love with the world of wine. Everything from the people to the process intrigue me. As far as how I got into wine; it was from a college professor. He brought in a Greek wine to compliment a Greek poem we were reading, and I was done for. I immediately began reading books and researching wines to try. It hasn’t been an easy task. No one in my family understands wine, they constantly tell me “Who would have ever thought YOU would be a wino?!” I’ve had to start from scratch, and it’s been great. I’ve developed a fantastic wine network all over the world as I work my way
into the wine business.
From the first time I tried wine, I knew it would be a big part of my life, in fact, it has changed my life completely. Until about two years ago I had planned on becoming a tv news reporter, and then I met wine. I immediately wanted to immerse myself in it and learn everything I could. I have been told that wine is one of the great loves of my life, and I believe it is. It has allowed me to make incredible friends, to educate and fascinate friends, and I even created my master’s program around wine and social media.
I’ve just graduated with a master of arts degree focusing on wine culture and social media. I was able to obtain this degree in Ohio, and although it isn’t high on the list of US wine regions, my university, (Go, OU!) has one of the best communication programs. I believe this education will serve me well in the future.
Currently, I am a contributing writer to a couple of wine sites Supple Wine (www.supplewine.com) and Palate Press (www.palatepress.com) As of right now, my plans are to move to New York City and continue writing, traveling, and finding a full time wine marketing position.
